It's in the house!
“After some time, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. The word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and live there. I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he got up and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the gate of the city, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and said, “Please get a small cup of water for me to drink.” As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” She said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, but only a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a jar. I am gathering two sticks, that I can go in and make it for me and my son, so we may eat it and die.” Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make a little cake for me first, and bring it to me, and afterward, make some for your son and you, for thus says the Lord God of Israel: The barrel of meal will not run out, nor will the jar of oil empty, until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the earth.” She went and did what Elijah told her to do, and she, he, and her household ate many days. The barrel of meal did not run out, nor did the jar of oil empty, according to the word of the Lord, which He spoke by Elijah.”
1 Kings 17:7-16 MEV
I'm reminded in this story that sometimes we think we need to go out and create provision for ourselves but when we do and are not following the lead of the Holy Spirit we may end up in a dead in situation. If th woman would have not obeyed what the Word of the Lord said and recognized the leading of the Holy Spirit she and her son would have died.
She may have thought or even tried to make things better before hearing what Elijah had to command her. His command was from the Lord because God had already told him that there was going to be a woman to provide for his needs. She thought to herself "I have nothing to offer, I don't even have enough for my family", but she quickly learned that in her house God has already supplied a Seed in order to provide for her continued need.
I don't know your situation today but I do know that what ever is needed it's already in your house, TODAY! I know your saying "but Pastor I can't supply for my family, because my resources are depleted and my joy, peace and security are all but gone." I understand your situation but I know one thing if you obey the leading of the Holy Spirit you will see God do the miraculous in your life.
Give out your need today! Give love where you need love. Spread joy when you need joy and peace. Provide resources when your resources seem depleted. Im reminded of the Words of Jesus in Luke 6:30... "Give and it shall be given to you...and running over". This woman in this story experienced just that, OVERFLOW! Her supply never ended at her simple obedience.
